The Club Today

Eastleigh Cricket Club is a club on the rise. We are proud to have a membership base of around 18 members which is comprised of full/part time players that have helped to form the club over the past few years. The club has one team which plays fixtures throughout the season as part of the Hampshire Cricket League, currently in Division 6 Central, but currently pushing for promotion which would take us to the next stage in our long-term plan.

Eastleigh Cricket Club has several projects that we intend to accomplish over the coming years. Firstly, we have plans to acquire a new home ground. The ground will provide the club with advanced playing facilities that will not only improve our playing experience but will also help to expand our membership base.

Secondly, to obtain sufficient playing/training equipment. Although we are a sociable club, that does not mean that we do not want to compete to the highest standard as possible. By obtaining playing/training equipment we will not only enhance our skills and playing capabilities, but also will raise the profile of our club both on and off the field which in itself will act as a marketing tool to grow our network.

Finally, to focus on growing our network. From a short-term perspective our aim is to introduce a 2nd team which will bolster our squad depth and provide further playing opportunities. However, from a long-term standpoint we also want to ensure that we focus our operations on youth Cricket to bring in younger members to the club – regardless of age, race, religion, gender or socio-economic background.

Eastleigh Cricket Club is comprised of a group of players who have now known each other for a number of years but had previously played for larger clubs - we decided it was time to break away and start thinking about what we could achieve on our own. Having formed in the late stages of 2019, we had our eyes set on entry into the 2020 league structure, but then faced the problems posed by COVID-19, which scuppered our aspiration of playing league cricket in both 2020 and the majority of 2021, with the club playing a handful of fixtures spread over both years. Since then, 2022 has been a somewhat success and sees the team pushing for promotion in what is our first season without external interuption.
