About us:

Team Solent Kestrels Basketball Club

Hello and welcome to the official SNAP Sponsorship profile of Team Solent Kestrels Basketball Club.

We're delighted to announce that we’ve now partnered with SNAP Sponsorship and we’re looking for sponsors who are excited about affiliating themselves with a friendly but competitive, family-orientated basketball club in Hampshire.

We strive to craft a partnership with our sponsors that meets their specific objectives, whether that be community gifting, social responsibility (CSR), direct sales or brand building.

We’ll work with you to develop a partnership which meets both your objectives and adds value to our members — supporting our club’s ongoing work in the community to remove barriers and make sport enjoyable, accessible and sustainable for all.

Whatever your motivation, find out more below. Thank you for visiting our profile.

Why Sponsor Us?

Make an impact in our Southampton community, supporting and developing local children to play basketball in a safe environment.

Sponsorship of a grassroots sport delivers a much higher return on investment than traditional advertising. This is because sponsorship allows your business to become directly involved in activities that are highly valued by local consumers.

Consumers are known to form strong positive associations with sponsors who support the development of grassroots sport and contribute to the local community. With eight out of ten consumers preferring to believe in what a company does rather than what it says, it’s easy to see why many businesses are choosing to sponsor basketball clubs like ours as a way of maximising their marketing return.

By directly supporting us, you’re helping to remove economic barriers — making sport affordable and inclusive for all.

Team Solent Kestrels Basketball Club has an array of sponsorship opportunities which can be tailored to meet your objectives. Through sponsorship, our club will promote your company in a wide variety of ways enriching the profile of your business in our community.

Be part of our National League journey and see why we have a national reputation for excellence in basketball.

During the past few seasons our Men’s D1 team have seen unrivalled success on the court after securing the League Championship title for four consecutive years, amongst other silverware.

One of the clubs most important elements to its success structurally is its educational and player pathway. The club boasts close links with the DISE program for boys and girls at Itchen College with Men's D2 head coach, Matt Guymon, along with his assistant Jack O’Keeffe working full-time with the college student athletes. Junior Girls’ Head Coach, Vicky Milner, heads up the girls’ club programme as well as being full-time at Itchen —running the WEABL programme. The pathway then continues with the progression to Solent University where the men’s programme as well as the D1 team is headed by Ben Stanley.

Our club is now one of the largest basketball clubs in the UK, drawing in players from across the UK and around the world. We also have a huge social media following with between 3k and 5k loyal followers on every platform, giving us huge exposure to an engaged audience.

Be part of the Kestrels Family, a community club with ambition to change people’s lives positively through basketball on and off the court.

There is plenty of evidence that participation in team sports improves self-esteem, mental discipline and social skills.

Team Solent Kestrels Basketball Club make training and development fun, we encourage our players to support each other and we celebrate individual achievements and success as a whole.

Although exercise and sport in general can have an incredible effect on people’s mental health and wellbeing, research has shown that there are more impactful mental health benefits of team sports and this has been proven and reflected in the lives of many of our own players.

In addition to wellbeing and the physical benefits of team sports, there are also valuable life skills and lessons young people can learn including manners, respect and boundaries on and off the basketball court; practising persistence, meeting new friends and boosting confidence.

We’d love for you to get involved and see the positive impact basketball can have on players.

This can all be found in our player pathway segment on our website.

As we’ve seen over the past three years, the club continues to grow from strength to strength with its vision of providing quality coaching and a full range of basketball to all age groups/abilities and the increase in membership of our recreational side of the club with our ‘MiniBallers’ growing each year and the instalment of our new Kestrels City League which sees 80 kids playing basketball weekly.

The future is bright for all involved with the club and we’d be really keen to hear from you if you have any interest in what we’re doing or have any plans on getting involved in basketball, in the future. There are many ways you as a sponsor can get involved and we’d be keen to hear from you and look forward to welcoming you to the Kestrels Family in the future.

The History of the Club

Originally started by husband and wife, Jimmie and Bev Guymon, so their son Matt could play competitive local basketball alongside other talented youngsters, Solent Stars Juniors was formed in 1998.

From a successful small family run club, predominantly for boys/men, the Stars later rebranded as Solent Kestrels junior programme with the sponsorship of Kestrel Guards security company. A formal merge with Solent University in 2015 to become ‘Team Solent Kestrels’ would follow. Solent University had a long-standing involvement with a men’s team in the national leagues for a number of seasons and also a thriving men’s and ladies’ BUCS programme with a junior girls’ programme in its infancy. The collaboration of both parties and the development of basketball at both Itchen College and Solent Uni has seen the club grow to one of the largest clubs in the UK, now drawing in players not only from across the south coast and UK, but also from Europe and the US.

Aspirations

We have ambitious plans to continue to develop the infrastructure at the club and naturally, we want to support our sponsors and build them in to our club on a strategic level — allowing all of our partners to benefit from our ever-improving facilities, expanding audience and our community involvement.
