Why Merrow Village Bowls Club
Merrow Village Bowls Club
Founded in 1929, we are a section within the Merrow Village Club and have a green situated behind the Village Hall at 177 Epsom Road. Being part of the Merrow Village Club means that we also have access to other activities, such as snooker, pool, and darts. The club also has a bar with competitively priced drinks.
Why Sponsor Us?
Although we are a small club, we play regularly throughout the summer. Of our Friendlies programme, around half of the matches are at Merrow, together with various league matches. The matches attract between 12 and 24 players, plus guests. We also have potential audiences from the Village Club.
With the opportunity to present you to a wide range of the public, we could offer you visibility within the wider area of Surrey.
We are a friendly crowd who like to socialise and play lawn bowls when we can. We play both league and friendly matches around Surrey, with free coaching available to all who need it. Our green is carefully maintained, providing a good playing surface, and is the envy of many local clubs.
Going forward, we aim to increase our membership, and update some of our green maintenance equipment which is getting towards end of life.
Providing sponsorship to our club would help us grow and give us greater financial security. Being part of the parent club, sponsors would also gain exposure to non-bowling Merrow Club members and their guests.
New members are the lifeblood of any club. We are actively targetting women's organisations, sports people who have reached that stage where they are unable to compete, and also, a younger audience. Bowls can be played from teenage upwards, and is a very rewarding sport.
In 2019, Merrow Village Bowls CLub celebrated its 90th anniversary. We have letter in our clubhouse welcoming us to the Surrey Bowls organisation (handwritten of course). In the past Merrow was a much larger club, holding prestigious competitions, and we hope to return to that position.
