Why Maidstone FC
Maidstone Rugby is the county town’s senior and longest established rugby club with the 1st XV playing its league fixtures in London & Division 2 (SE).
2012/13 season saw Maidstone boast an outstanding year and saw the club’s 1st XV succeed as undefeated champions of London and South East Division 3 (SE), in addition to reaching the national semi-final of the RFU Senior Vase for the second successive season; retaining their London and South East Division title in the process. 2014/15 season saw a change in the coaching team and the introduction of high standard coaches, with the club enjoying an extremely successful campaign on three fronts; finishing as unbeaten champions of London Division 2 (SE), RFU Intermediate Cup winners and finally winning the RFU National Cup Final at Twickenham.
Since then Maidstone has been on a steady streak of wins and losses as the club went through a phase of restructuring and focusing the clubs energies on developing the team and looking at expanding the club as a whole by improving transitions from the youth section to senior rugby.
From a wider club perspective the club runs a thriving youth section that sees in excess of 300 children each week playing the game within a range of age groups, and the club is also one of Premiership side Saracens’ partner clubs.
At the other end of the age range, the club organises and hosts the Spitfire Gold Veterans Trophy, which the club organises and runs on behalf of Kent RFU.
