Why Saltire Thistle FC
Saltire Thistle Football Club - Scotland's Inclusive Team
Established over ten years ago, Saltire Thistle was founded to give members of Scotland's LGBTQ+ community a welcoming and supportive environment to play the sport they love. We've helped hundreds of members become happier, healthier and more confident by allowing them to get back into a sport that is so often terrifying for them.
We're also at the forefront of the fight against LGBTQ+ related discrimination in Scottish football and have strong relationships with Football v Homophobia Scotland, LEAP Sports, the SFA, The SPFL and the Scottish Government.
We believe sponsorship of our club will deliver value based on a marketing investment for financial return, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), or for the love of the Club.
Whatever your motivation, find out more below. Thank you for visiting our profile.
Why Sponsor Us:
Saltire Thistle principally relies on the generosity of local individuals & businesses to provide funding to run as efficiently as possible. Without these contributions, the club would not be able to exist or be able to achieve the goals it has set for itself in the medium to long term.
The club is a not-for-profit social enterprise run by a team of volunteers. Every penny we earn is spent on our members and the Club. We aim to have low overheads which means we can scale our annual investment to meet our ambitions. We aim to be self-sufficient each season to provide sustainable conditions for the club to operate well into the future, whilst creating the environment for club growth within the community.
We operate in a geographically confined region in the West of Scotland meaning your marketing investment can be focussed to maximise value to your business. We also play in Europe, the UK and Scotland - with regular home and away games with teams based in Liverpool. Nottingham, London and more.
The club has a flexible approach to sponsorship, with perks ranging from but are not limited to:
logo & link on social media posts and websites pages
physical advertisement on club assets
opportunities to advertise at club events
captive audience of club members for exclusive business promotions
invites to club events
Alternative/supplementary perks can be arranged through negotiation dependent on the level of sponsor commitment
Whilst we are a small community club, we are committed to giving you and your company the exposure and promotion you deserve. We recognise that without your support we could not exist.
The club still retains the family ethos from the day the club founded and football values we all know and love; more recently it has been reinvigorated through the efforts of an entirely new committee including a dedicated and business-oriented Chairman and a highly qualified Coach.
Locally we play in the Glasgow Community and Co-operative League, nationally in the GFSN and internationally we compete in competitions such as the EuroGames and GayGames.
Since installing a new committee, the Club has grown both financially and in its exposure and recognition across the LGBTQ+ community. There has been a renewed focus on financial responsibility and strengthening ties with local businesses. Our Chair has also been successful in reigniting interest from the national press with coverage from BBC, Bauer Media and The Glasgow Times
We anticipate that this is just the start of a new beginning, with a bright future ahead.
On the pitch, the club’s ambition is to build on the progression seen both on and off the pitch into 2020-21.
The Club is also working with local stakeholders to submit a CAT request to take over the running of local facilities, giving the Club its own home for the first time in its history.
We have also recruited our first female-presenting player and will now study the feasibility of creating a women/gender-neutral team. We have also grown to over 50+ members and will be creating a development squad to support these new members. There is potential for the Club to grow to over 3 teams from its current position.
Created in 2010, Saltire has a long history of success and is recognised and Scotland's most successful LGBTQ+ inclusive team.
We have regularly won the national GFSN league and cup against opposition from up and down the UK.
