Why Royal Marines Association RFC
ONCE A MARINE, ALWAYS A MARINE
The Royal Marines Association RFC are a unique entity which was formed to bring a new dimension to the support for members of the Corps family; serving, Veterans, their families and those who have supported us
Yes, we aim to raise funds for our worthwhile causes, but perhaps more importantly the formation of the Rugby team, affords us the platform to reach out to many Veterans who had lost contact with their friends but still hankered after that belonging, togetherness, same ethos and core values which are common to both the Royal Marines and rugby families.
We aim to play 4 to 5 games a year throughout the UK, as well as our annual pilgrimage to Gibraltar, which will see us tour for the 7th consecutive year.
So why do we have sponsors and what is their role in the Branch? Without the ongoing generosity of our sponsors it would be impossible to have so many games each year. As a sponsor you are part of the Corps Family. whether you tour to Gibraltar, attend our annual Regimental Dinner, join us on Families Day; you will be rewarded to being a key part of this tight knit community and make and renew friendships.
A quote from one of our sponsors this year in Gibraltar was “ To be a part of this is something I would never of dreamt of. The lads are warm, welcoming, always looking out for each other and have a camaraderie, of which I have never seen before. It gives an experience back to sponsors which just isn’t out there”
Our Patron, Sir Ian McGeechan OBE –“ I am very honoured and proud to be Patron of Royal Marines Association RFC. The opportunities rugby allows to bring together the whole Royal Marines fraternity, can never be underestimated.
It encourages new, and old friendships as well as reflecting the very strong values and ethos on which the Corps is built. Support, trust and enjoyment are core values which are so important to the Royal Marines and rugby environments. Thank you for your support.”
Amongst our Ambassadors are former Wasps & England player. Paul Sampson, who is also our Club Captain and Danny Wilson, Scotland Assistant Coach, which is testament to our unique and special brand.
Be someone who makes a difference.
