A standout memory was playing for Wellington Amateurs against Telford in front of a big crowd after years without the fixture. I moved into player/management at 29, taking a Shrewsbury Sunday League side from Division 4 to the Prem with back‑to‑back promotions. With Allscott, I went from the Shropshire County League into the West Midlands League, picking up a County Cup win and a 34‑game unbeaten run on the way.
