Nicknamed the 'Northern God of Bowling', Gary started playing at the age of 15 and has won numerous club and county titles over the years. In addition, he skipped a triple to victory in a national final, where his nickname was born.

More recently, Gary has successfully skipped his 4's rinks to 3 county and 2 Northern County titles. In addition, Gary has also won the county mixed pairs and qualified for the national finals in the same competition where he and his playing partner narrowly lost out at the quarter final stage.

Gary was able to play in national senior competitions for a while before a rule change excludes him going forward. However, he won senior singles, pairs and 4's in the time he was eligible to play.

Outside of bowls, Gary has undertaken 4 (and has signed up for a 5th) gruelling 26 mile Mighty Hikes on behalf of Macmillan Cancer Support raising thousands of pounds in donations for that charity.
