After enough years at Spencer to now qualify as part of the old guard, it’s been a decent little innings. With a career spent opening the batting and enough time in the 1st XI to move from promising player to seasoned veteran, there should be minimal concern from any prospective sponsor about my commitment to the cause, if not always my mobility in the field.

These days, much of my best work in the field is done at slip. With age, experience, and a sound appreciation for energy conservation, you’ll find me in the cordon. With the bat, there is at least a slightly stronger body of evidence. A right-hand opener by trade, I’ve done just enough to become Spencer’s leading 1st XI league run scorer, post the club’s first Play-Cricket double hundred, and quietly put together the odd season that looked suspiciously competent.
