About us:

City of Peterborough Swimming Club

Hello and welcome to the official SNAP Sponsorship profile of City of Peterborough Swimming Club.

We're delighted to announce that we’ve now partnered with SNAP Sponsorship and we’re looking for sponsors who are excited about affiliating themselves with a high-performing Cambridgeshire swimming club with big ambitions and a lot of talent.

We strive to craft a partnership with our sponsors that meets their specific objectives, whether that be community gifting, social responsibility (CSR), direct sales or brand building.

We’ll work with you to develop a partnership which meets both your objectives and adds value to our members — supporting our club’s ongoing work in the community to remove barriers and make sport enjoyable, accessible and sustainable for all.

Whatever your motivation, find out more below. Thank you for visiting our profile.

Why Sponsor Us?

Large digital following and membership networking opportunities

Do you want to connect with an enhanced target audience? City of Peterborough Swimming Club has an extensive network of members which is structured through swimmers, supporters and employees. We regularly host swimming events and will be looking for sponsors to sponsor these and some of our competitive swimmers. We also have a fast-growing social media presence with over 1200 followers on Twitter and Instagram and over 500 on Facebook.

City of Peterborough Swimming Club has an array of sponsorship opportunities which can be tailored to meet your objectives. Through sponsorship, our club will promote your company in a wide variety of ways enriching the profile of your business in our community.

Participation in sport improves self-esteem, mental discipline and social skills

City of Peterborough Swimming Club make training and development fun, we encourage our players to support each other and we celebrate individual achievements and success as a whole.

Exercise and sport in general can have an incredible effect on people’s mental health and wellbeing. There are also valuable life skills and lessons young people can learn including manners, respect and boundaries; practising persistence, meeting new friends and boosting confidence.

We’d love for you to get involved and see the positive impact swimming can have on young people.

Get involved in grassroots sport and remove economic barriers making sport affordable and accessible for all

Sponsorship of a grassroots sport delivers a much higher return on investment than traditional advertising. This is because sponsorship allows your business to become directly involved in activities that are highly valued by local consumers.

Consumers are known to form strong positive associations with sponsors who support the development of grassroots sport and contribute to the local community. With eight out of ten consumers preferring to believe in what a company does rather than what it says, it’s easy to see why many businesses are choosing to sponsor swimming clubs like ours as a way of maximising their marketing return.

By directly supporting us, you’re helping to remove economic barriers — making sport affordable, accessible and inclusive for all.

The Club

What we are striving for

The aim of the City of Peterborough Swimming Club is to promote and encourage the art of swimming in all its aspects and to be recognised as one of the best competitive swimming clubs in the east region.

The Club provides coaching and competition for all ages and levels of swimmers, and all are welcome. We offer two pathways, a competitive one and a performance pathway.

A swimmer's individual progress and improvement — at whatever standard — is what gives satisfaction to the Club and its coaches as well as to the swimmers themselves.

The Club aims to provide an enjoyable environment in which to help swimmers fulfil their potential, and prepare them to compete at a level commensurate with their ability, and promote a social atmosphere which encourages their regular attendance at training sessions.

Competitive Opportunities

We offer dedicated full-time coaches who provide a challenging training and competitive programme, as well as support and guidance in competition, pool training and land training at all levels.

Ben Negus is our Head Coach who holds a Level 4 qualification, but more than that; comes with dedication, passion, commitment, great communication skills and a thirst for success of the highest order.  Ably supported by his full-time assistant coach, Rebecca Barsby, part-time coaches and volunteers, and with access to significant pool time at four local pools and long course training as required, the coaches can provide each swimmer with all the tools to become the best.

History of the Club

Peterborough Swimming Club was formed following the open air Swimming Pool opening on 28th May 1936 and on the 30th July 1936, the first Peterborough Swimming Club Gala was held there against Spalding and St Ives. The Lido as it is now called, is one of the few remaining examples of pre-war swimming pool and is still used by the Club for the 1/4 and 1/2 mile Championships.

Links between the Club and Council began when Councillor A.H Mellows, MA, JP, Mayor of Peterborough became the first Club President. The relationship continued over the years and on 1st July 1985 developed into a partnership to employee Brian Brinkley MBE as the first professional chief coach, to develop swimming in Peterborough.

Recognising the assistance from the City Council the Club changed its name to the City of Peterborough Swimming Club and COPS was born.

With membership rising, we have ambitious plans to continue to develop the infrastructure at the club. Naturally, we want to support our sponsors and build them in to our club on a strategic level — allowing all of our partners to benefit from our ever-improving facilities, expanding audience and our community involvement.
