Why Jacksonville Youth Rugby Club
About us:
Jacksonville Youth Rugby Club was created in 2018 and held our first season in 2019. We started with just 2 kids whose parents played in their youth. Between 2019 and early 2020, we have partnered with local schools and other youth programs to introduce Rugby to kids who had no previous knowledge of the game. Over 1,200 kids were introduced to the sport and each school or program we visited was given 2 Rugby balls.
The goal of Jacksonville Youth Rugby Club is to leave no child out of being able to have the experience of playing a team sport. With the rising cost of sports, thousands of kids are priced out of having that experience each year. Along with being able to participate in a team sport, our kids are introduced to a culture and community that no other sport provides. We provide homework assistance and kids learn the importance of giving back to the community. The club volunteers to assist the schools we partner with. Schools provide a list of needs and coachs, players, and parents all come together to help the school with as many of those needs as we can.
