Why Bridport RFC
About us:
Bridport Rugby Football Club
Established by former pupils of Sir John Colfox School in Bridport in 1968, the club has provided rugby playing opportunities to many over the years, including players who have gone on to represent England (age grade and Barbarians) and professional rugby clubs – we seek to continue to develop local talent who will form a lasting bond with our great sport.
We believe that your sponsorship of our club will deliver benefits to you or your organisation ranging from financial returns on enhanced marketing exposure in the local community and the South West along the Jurassic Coast, giving back to the community and enabling local participation in sports, or satisfaction in investing because of your affinity to the club and the game.
Why Sponsor us
Since our inception, we have relied on the local business community and the occasional generous benefactor to provide valuable sponsorship, enabling the club to maintain a sound financial foundation.
We are a club at the heart of the local community, and we wish to grow our involvement by continually improving the facilities and opportunities we can offer to players of all ages. We are ideally located along the Jurassic coast and sited with the pre-eminent leisure facility in the area (Bridport Leisure Centre), next to the local football club, Palmers Brewery and a Morrisons superstore – this ensures we have significant footfall and traffic (both local and tourists) through our club.
We are adopting an innovative approach to sponsorship and offering new and existing sponsors a wide variety of opportunities that will provide you or your company with attractive options for sponsorship, which we will re-invest into the development and growth of the beautiful game in our local community.
As a sponsor, you can expect benefits ranging from (but are not limited to):
1. Logo and link to social media posts and club website pages
2. Physical advertisements on club assets
3. Opportunities to advertise at club events
4. Captive audience of club members for exclusive business promotions
5. Preferential rates for hire of clubhouse
6. Invites to club events
7. Alternative/supplementary perks can be arranged through negotiation dependent on the level of sponsor commitment
Whilst we are a small community club, we have ambitions to grow our wonderful game in the community and we are committed to providing your company with the exposure your support deserves.
Today
The club still very much believes in continuing the traditions of the past, whilst adhering to the values the game of rugby brings to the players and local community and evolving into a modern, inclusive club. We have excellent facilities, two excellent full size pitches as well as smaller minis and junior pitches, well equipped changing rooms, small players gym and an excellent clubhouse associated with Palmers Brewery and a recently refurbished kitchen.
We have a large and very well supported Junior section covering all ages which we hope will be providing the players of the future to take the club forward.
We have taken steps to modernise the club, by entering a 3-year kit supply deal with Akuma, strengthening our club governance and establishing cross channel relationships through our link with Rugby Club Lege Cap Ferret in France.
We anticipate that this is just the start of our journey, with a bright future ahead for both us and our sponsors.
Aspirations
Having gained promotion last season, we want to sustain our position in Dorset & Wilts South 1 and by adopting the following principles look to progress on and off the pitch:
1. A commitment to grow the game of rugby in Bridport and immediate surrounding areas by engaging more with the wider community
2. Maintaining our grounds and facilities to a very high standard and continue to be one of the best grounds and changing facilities in our league
3. Jointly with Bridport Leisure Centre, create a vibrant social scene with regular member and community events held at the club.
4. Utilise our facilities to generate revenue for the club through advertising and enhanced sponsorship opportunities
History
Bridport RFC has a long and successful history, from our formation in 1968 to the present day. In 1969 the club played 11 matches winning 10 and losing 1 and in our second season we played 33 won 15 lost 14 and drew 4.
With the arrival of the Leisure Centre in 1986 and the demolition of the old clubhouse, the club looked at the possibility of moving to a new ground. Funds were gathered through various grants, donations from club members and repayable loans and the clubhouse was officially opened by Sir Peter Yarranton of the RFU on 24th October 1993.
Over the years we have competed between Southern Counties and Dorset & Wilts 2 South and will be playing in Dorset & Wilts 1 South for the 2020/21 season. We have a thriving youth section of 200+ kids.
We have a close relationship with Crewkerne RFC, who we play every year for the “Brown Bowler Hat” in memory of a founding player who played for both clubs.
