Why Tideway Odyssey
About us:
Tideway Odyssey: The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2020
We are two women on a mission to see just how far we can push ourselves while supporting two incredible charities.
The adventure
In December 2020, we will be taking on 'the world's toughest row', The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. It will see us row over 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean from San Sebastian in La Gomera to Nelson's Dockyard in Antigua & Barbuda.
The race includes up to 30 teams participating from all over the world. We will battle with sleep deprivation, salt sores, and physical extremes inflicted by the race. Left with just our own thoughts, an expanse of the ocean and the job of getting the boat safely to the other side.
With Victoria's rowing background and Saf's military expertise, we are determined to break the world record for the fastest female pair. Read more about the crew here.
The charities
But it isn't just about the adventure. Believers in the power of sport to transform body and mind, we have chosen to support the Youth Sport Trust and London Youth Rowing who work to promoting the importance of sport in the development of young people.
How can you support us?
We need £60k to buy our boat and get us to the start line. Once we have this, we will be able to focus on raising money for our two charities. We are aiming to raise £50,000.
Once we have completed the race we will be selling our boat and donating all proceeds to our charities. We anticipate we will be able to recoup around 80% which means an additional £50,000 to help change a life through sport.
