Long Buckby Hockey Club
Hello and welcome to the official SNAP Sponsorship profile of Long Buckby Hockey Club.
We're delighted to announce that we’ve now partnered with SNAP Sponsorship and we’re looking for sponsors who are excited about affiliating themselves with an esteemed hockey club that has a lengthy history, dating back to 1889. In return, we’re offering not just increased brand awareness, corporate social responsibility and a return on investment, but also the chance to get involved in the local community, building partnerships, networks and trust.
Whatever your motivation, find out more below. Thank you for visiting our profile.
Why Sponsor Us?
Brand awareness
We can offer you increased brand awareness. Long Buckby Hockey Club has an array of sponsorship opportunities which can be tailored to meet your objectives. Through sponsorship, our club will promote your company in a wide variety of ways, increasing your brand awareness, and therefore enriching the profile of your business.
We're interested in both local and national sponsors who are interested in engaging with our community.
Expansive clientele connectivity
Do you want to connect with an enhanced target audience? Long Buckby Hockey Club has an extensive network of members which is structured through players, supporters and employees. Although we don't own our own ground, we're able to hire the local rugby or football clubhouses and function rooms for sponsored events. Through sponsorship, our club will provide effective promotional services to link potential clients and future customers to the products, services and experiences that you supply.
Competitive edge
Our club loves a bit of competition and we have two teams competing in the Mixed Summer Leagues organised by the Northamptonshire Mixed Hockey League. One team are playing in Pool A, a more competitive league and one in Pool B, a friendly but still competitive league.
Through sponsorship we aspire to build a long-standing partnership with your organisation to deliver mutual benefits within the setting of our club.
Please notify the club if there are any sponsorship opportunities which are not currently present on our SNAP profile. To register your interest in any of our sponsorship packages please contact our SNAP Sponsorship profile or an official club representative directly.

The Club Today
Long Buckby Hockey Club is a long-standing club with a lengthy history. The club currently has two women’s teams, two men’s teams, Badgers and a large, developing junior section. We also run a mixed team but this is currently pending approval of a new league configuration for this season.
We offer ‘Rush Hockey’, ‘Back to Hockey’ and ‘Hockey Heroes’ programmes to get people involved throughout the season in the varying age groups.
Summer League
The club has two teams competing in the Mixed Summer Leagues organised by the Northamptonshire Mixed Hockey League, one in Pool A and the other in Pool B.
Ambitions
We have high hopes for the future; our adult teams are competing well and we’re building strong foundations with our expanding junior section — which is developing further every season. One day, we'd love to own our own ground and clubhouse in Long Buckby itself.
History
The original Long Buckby Hockey Club dates back to 1889. The club holds records from the Northampton Mercury newspaper of the Long Buckby Hockey Club General Meeting which was held on Friday 20th September 1889, when the committee (and presumably players), were all men. The ladies team developed later. The oldest known photograph of the Ladies’ team is from 1920 and the Ladies’ club continued to run throughout the 1930s, 1950s and 1960s. There are no records during the 1940s, presumably due to WW2. We still have a VP, Brenda Morgan who played for Long Buckby during the 1950s and 60s and there are a few people still around in the village who played with her.
Abbie Arnull, a committee member and some of the current VPs restarted the club in 1969 on the Long Buckby sports field. They presented a new cup at the dinner in May for the VP’s 50th Anniversary 1969-2019, for the ‘Best Team of the Year’ and the Badgers won it.
