WENDRON UNITED AFC:
Why Sponsor Us?
Established in 1986, out of a cricket club, Wendron United AFC is a community sports club based in Rame, Cornwall.
We believe sponsorship of our club will deliver value based on a marketing investment for financial return, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), or for the love of the club.
Whatever your motivation, find out more below. Thank you for visiting our profile.
About Us:
Audience:
We have an active Club membership of approximately 500 members. Alongside this, we have a registered footfall through the premises of 25,000 per year, with a further 10,000+ across our 3 major events, The Sharon Wood Annual Youth Football tournament, The West Cornwall Motor Show and our Bonfire & Firework Night.
Digital:
As a club we understand the power and importance of social media today, and utilise Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to do so. Our largest following is on Twitter, receiving about 515,500 impressions annually - which is a great perk for your brand!
Facilities:
We have excellent facilities available for hire at Wendron United AFC, as detailed at the bottom of this profile. We hope to continue expanding over the coming seasons as a result of new partnerships.
Today:
We currently have 5 male Saturday teams, 1 female side and 9 youth teams from u6 - u16, which we are very proud of as we believe football should be for everyone regardless of gender/background/race/age etc.
We have been an Ambassador club for international charity KitAid since 2019, acting as the South West hub for all football kit donations. We have so far worked with over 15+ local teams for the donations of their kit and equipment, which is then collected and packed off to some of the most deprived areas of Africa and the rest of the world, serving to provide equipment and promote football for all.
The club has also entered a partnership in March 2022, with an emerging mental health non-profit organisation "Goal In Mind" designed to help re-introduce those with or affected by mental health issues to football and positive social environments.
With our growing membership base, we have a large audience to expose your brand too. This is both physically and digitally - through social media and the internet.
The club has a flexible approach to sponsorship, with perks ranging from but are not limited to:
- logo & link on social media posts and websites pages, to an audience of roughly 1,020,000 annually
- physical advertisement on club assets, providing exposure to players and spectators which will also be advertised through our social media
- opportunities to advertise at club events, to an audience wider than our existing membership base
- invites to community events
Alternative/supplementary perks can be arranged through negotiation dependent on the level of sponsor commitment, budget and your business objectives.
We are committed to giving you and your company the exposure and promotion you deserve. We recognise that without your support many of our club members would not be enjoying their sport at the weekend!
Aspirations:
We wish to continue driving our community closer together through expansion of our club. The club is driven to create and develop local business connections in support of ongoing projects, including a brand new 4G pitch.
History:
In 1986 a football Section was formed to play occasional friendly fixtures but has since grown into a most vibrant part of the Club. Matches were played on a hired field approximately half a mile from the clubhouse in the former Falmouth/Helston Junior leagues. It was vital for the Club’s future to develop a football pitch on our main site to give the football section greater security and enable it to progress to the Senior status it holds today.
The Club was fortunate in attracting substantial grant aid from both local and national sources in order to provide the community with a floodlit all-weather sport area, this was completed in 1992. As a result of this project local people were provided with a first class tennis facility and the ladies were able to launch a netball side in 1993.
By far the greatest boost has been given to the youngsters of the district who use the area for soccer training. Each week over 200 attend regular practice sessions supervised by enthusiastic coaches. The Club’s commitment to youth gained national recognition in the same year when the Football Association made it a Mini Soccer Centre with the then current Ted Powell, England U-18 manager attending one of the training sessions.
Recent history has been also been made, winning the Cornwall Combination Cup and Eveley Cup in 2014/15. The club then gained promotion to South West Peninsula League Division One in 2015 and in 2018 to the The South West Peninsula Premier, competing at Step 6 of the National League System (NLS). In 2021/22 season the club entered National competition the FA Vase for the first time in their history, reaching the 2nd rd proper, the joint furthest of any side in the County. The club has also reached the final of the prestigious Cornwall Senior Cup for their first time ever in 2022 to a great local crowd of nearly 1,300 fans! Continuing the drive for growing success, the club have also applied for the 2022/23 FA Cup for the first time in their history.
