- Purchase matchday equipment to help us continue to host Bedfordshire County Cricket youth matches.
- Buy new equipment to enable us to offer free coaching sessions to all children in our community.
- Replace our all weather artificial wicket, which is over 20 years old.
- Keep providing the whole Sandy community with the opportunity to play cricket.
- Support cricket sessions in local schools.
- Run an event in support of the ECB Women's Big Cricket Month
- Offer "Walking Cricket" sessions for 55+ age groups
- Offer all-girls coaching sessions, and run an all-girls team
In return for sponsoring us we can offer advertising for you, or your company: at our ground on match days, which is in a public park so will be seen by hundreds of local people; on our various social media pages, which are regularly shared to local groups and seen by thousands; on our website, which is viewed by over 100,000 people a year; and in our annual fixture handbook, which as well as going out to all club members & life members, is also distributed throughout the local community in shops and pubs. Sponsors will be invited to club events, which can also be opportunities to promote your business.
Sandy Cricket Club has been active for over 100 years, giving the local community a chance to participate in local, low cost cricket, We are a Community Association Sports Club (CASC), and Clubmark accredited. The club has a junior section, two senior league teams and also plays friendly matches on Sundays. Sandy CC are the only cricket club based in the town and we provide pitches for home matches played by the local secondary school.
The recreation ground is freely accessible to the general public and the cricket square is available for use by the whole community. We also host junior county matches for Cricket East, and other local clubs can hire the square.
The club is run entirely by dedicated volunteers, and is completely self-funded. We rely on our own fundraising opportunities, fees and donations from members, and sponsorship from local businesses.
The club has always maintained links with local schools, running Chance-2-Shine sessions and Kwik Cricket tournaments, and also supporting Cricket East in running school cricket sessions.
Our qualified coaching staff run junior sessions during summer and winter months to help keep the juniors active and engaged with cricket. We have traditionally kept our junior membership fees low, in fact they haven't increased for nearly a decade. Sponsorship will guarantee we keep these fees unchanged again and continue to run indoor winter coaching sessions for juniors.
We currently have two seniors men's teams, both teams have been playing in the Bedfordshire Invitation Saturday Cricket League. Our 1st XI won the 2nd Division in 2020, and followed that up by winning 1st Division in 2021 (at the first attempt). The 1st XI have now been accepted into Division Two of the Hunts County League for the 2022 season, which allows opprtunities to play higher level cricket. The 2nd XI will still compete in Division 3 of the BISCL, and this gives an opportunity for lapsed players to get back into cricket, and also for our colts to progress into adult cricket. The two teams compliment each other, and allow the club to provide opportunities to players of all abilities. Friendly matches are played on Sundays, whilst the club also runs 2 teams in the Bedfordshire Indoor League during the winter months.
During the 2022 season we plan to run junior teams at various age groups in the Bedfordshire Youth Cricket League.
We firmly believe it is essential that children from all social, economic and ethnic backgrounds have an opportunity to participate in and enjoy sport. Cricket gives children of any ability an opportunity to be active, meet new friends, learn new skills and most importantly have some fun!
We must reach out to more children, especially girls, and also children from ethnic minority backgrounds and areas of deprivation. We must encourage them to believe that cricket is a sport open to them all, a sport they can come along and enjoy.
The club's 1st XI are now moving towards a higher standard of cricket, we anticipate that this will encourage more people to come and play.
The club will keep hosting junior county cricket matches for Cricket East, and particularly support girls team to encourage greater participation levels.
Walking Cricket is a new venture the club is starting as we look to encourage older adults to become active and have more social interaction.
Sandy CC is a club moving forwards, we have big plans for the future! Please support us, and together we can support the local community and increase participation across the whole of Sandy.
