Leamington Khalsa cricket club was formed in 1995 with the aim of providing an avenue where adults and children of mixed abilities can play cricket for their enjoyment. The club gained honours in successive years winning the midweek premier league and the cup. In 2005, LKCC acquired the grounds at Lighthorne village which allowed the club to enter the South Northants league where successive promotions occurred before reaching the premier division. The ambitions of the club have not stopped, the senior team have now moved on to be an established Warwickshire Cricket League side who have gained multiple promotions and are now comfortably playing in Division 3 and 7 respectively. In 2008, the junior teams were developed with age groups of under 8s - under 16s participating in their respective leagues.
During the winter periods, we have our own indoor cricket facilities providing two bowling lanes and a unique bowling machine. This has enabled the club to hold group sessions, private 1-1 session, adult training but most importantly host our own kids training each Friday during the off season. These sessions have proved vital as we have now managed to establish a new youth section who are now looking to play some games come the 2024 season.
We are an established yet growing club. We have 2 senior sides on a Saturday competing in the Warwickshire League in which our opponents are all located within either Birmingham, Coventry and Stratford. 1 midweek T20 side and one Sunday side.
Our Sunday side have recently joined the Sunday Arden league which is provides a competitive cricketing experience for those players. This season was a success for the Sunday team as we saw the club finish 2nd gaining promotion to Division 3 in its first season. Sunday cricket also enabled some junior section players to also participate in adult cricket.
We participate in the ECB's All stars and Dynamos programme which is a first experience for all children boys and girls between the ages of 5-8 & 9-12 years old respectively where they’re guaranteed 8 weeks of jam-packed fun, activity and skills development. For the 2023 season, we experienced high numbers of attendees with roughly 60 kids attending per session.
