About us:

Established in 1931, Galleywood Cricket Club on the outskirts of Chelmsford, Essex has provided cricket playing opportunities to many over the years and we are proud to have expanded our Cricket for All offering in recent years with expansion of our thriving Youth Section and with the introduction of Women & Girls cricket in 2019 alongside six Adult weekend teams.

To continue our mantra of "cricket for all", we need to keep improving facilities to enable Galleywood Cricket Club to offer cricket for all ages and abilities.

Thank you for visiting our profile.

Why Sponsor Us?

Galleywood Cricket Club is a not-for-profit organisation and reinvests all monies raised back into the club for the good of its members and the local community meeting your Corporate Social Responsibility needs. This re-investment is with the aim of sustaining and developing the club to provide opportunities to play cricket to people of all ages and abilities for many years to come.

Being part of the TRippon Mid Essex Cricket League, North East Cricket League, Central Essex Youth Leagues and through the participation of our Women and Girls at Tournaments sees our six adult weekend teams; women & girls team and five age group teams play matches across Essex, into Suffolk and North East London meaning your marketing investment will maximise exposure and value to your business.

The club has a flexible approach to sponsorship, with perks ranging from, but not limited to:

- company logo & link on social media posts and website's sponsors' page

- physical advertisement on club assets

- opportunities to advertise at club events

- invites to club events

Alternative/supplementary perks can be arranged through negotiation, dependent on the level of sponsor commitment.

Galleywood Cricket Club also shares our home ground with Galleywood Youth FC and Galleywood FC  as well as a local Dog Trainer who runs classes on the ground, therefore the club's facilities are ideally situated for exposure, as advertising in and around the ground would be seen by a wide demographic  all year round. In addition our 3rd & 4th teams play matches in the nearby village of Margaretting providing further potential opportunities to expose your business’ brand.

We are committed to giving you and your business the exposure and promotion you deserve.

Galleywood is proud of the sound management of the Club that has been in place throughout our history and we have raised funds through our membership, reinvesting bar profits and seeking grants where possible to fund specific projects.  However our experience in 2020 with the Global Pandemic shutting the Club for half of the season proved what we knew already in that we need to diversify and expand our income streams  to continue the development of Galleywood Cricket Club to provide Cricket for All. Thankfully due to the generosity of our members and sound management of finances, we came through 2020 with no loss of funds. There is a deep-rooted passion for cricket and dedication to local success in all that we do but the time is right to build on this through local partnerships and sponsorships.

Galleywood Cricket Club has has held full ECB (England & Wales Cricket Board) Clubmark accreditation since 2012. ECB Clubmark is an accreditation scheme for cricket clubs which shows that a club is sustainable, well run and provides the right environment for its members.  It also means our club is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages, as well as assuring parents and carers that they are choosing the right option for their children.

Our links with local schools and the community; and providing coaching and training facilities for youngsters, are evidence that social responsibility is taken seriously by the club and ticks boxes for its sponsors.

On the pitch – Galleywood’s ambition is to develop the best teams that we can but not at a win at all costs mentality but by encouraging players to be the best they can be and facilitating opportunities for players to develop whatever their skill level and ability. In 2012 we ran two Saturday teams, one Sunday team and three age group teams. We now run three Saturday and one Sunday league sides plus Saturday and Sunday Development teams which focus on bridging the gap between Youth and Senior cricket. In addition we will be running Youth teams at U9, U10, U11, U13 and U15 age groups as well as expanding the Women & Girls teams. We also have a longer term aspiration to develop disability cricket.

Off the pitch - to build upon the history of our club and the great work undertaken by our loyal volunteers, developing  stronger community links and local partnerships, with a view to expanding our offering of "Cricket for All", for future generations to join, support and enjoy for many, many years to come.

Formed in 1931, cricket has been played at our Slades Lane ground every year apart from  a period from September 1939 until the Summer of 1948 when cricket returned to Galleywood some three years after the end of World War Two. The first Clubhouse was constructed after fund raising activities in the Winter of 1931/32. In the 1950s the Club really began to flourish and in 1957, purchase of the ground for the use of Galleywood Cricket Club and Galleywood Football Club was concluded. Through the 1960s and 1970s the number of sides expanded and Youth Coaching commenced c 1972 and has continued ever since. The 1980s through until the early 2000s was a golden era for the Club with numerous TRippon Mid Essex League and Divisional titles won and an expansion of the number of teams run. The past few years have seen  a re-focus on Youth development which is the life blood of a community club such as Galleywood and it is pleasing to see how many Senior players have graduated from our Youth ranks. Since 2019, the launch of our Women & Girls Team and All Stars programmes for 5-8yos has been a further welcome development toward our provision of Cricket For All.
