On Saturdays we enter four teams in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League. The first team play in the Hertfordshire Championship. The second in Division 2B, our thirds Division 7A and after their first season the new fourth team gained promotion to Division 11 North.

On Sundays we also field four senior teams in the Bedfordshire County Cricket League. The first XI play in the Premiership, the 2nd XI, after promotion last year are now in Division 2, the 3rd XI in Division 5 and the 4th XI start their second campaign in Division 7.

We also have a thriving Women & Girls  team also play in a local league Sundays, as well as joining our other teams on Saturdays.

Our growing rounders team train at the ground on Monday nights, and last year played their first inter club matches.

During the winter months, the club participates in the Bedfordshire Indoor Cricket League, with games taking place on Sunday mornings.

With numerous members and teams, our audience is vast across the county - giving your brand great chance to build on our brand reputation and vice versa.

As a club we understand the power and importance of social media today, and utilise Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to promote our club. We will thank any sponsors on these platforms too and hope to expand our following over the coming seasons. We currently stand on a strong following of over 3,600 across the three.

Facilities:

Flitwick Cricket Club is available for hire all year round. It offers:

- A magnificent view over the cricket ground

- Ample car parking

- A dance floor and large stage area with seating for up to 100 people, if required.

Today:

We have a flourishing junior section of 300 girls and boys where we offer the ECB All Stars and Dynamos programmes to ages 5-11 and Strikers for ages 10-15. Our aims are to provide a fun and enjoyable cricket experience where players can not only develop their core physical and cricket skills but also their self-confidence, resilience, determination, concentration, team working skills and lifelong values.

We have a growing women and girls' section - one of only three in the county. Our women's team play in the Women's Home Counties League and our girls play in mixed teams and girls only soft ball competitions. We also run women's soft ball festivals for those who want to try out or just have some fun!

Our men's section with over 85 playing members continues to expand and for the first time in 2021 we are able to field four teams in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League on Saturdays and four in the Bedfordshire Cricket League on Sundays. We enter teams into the county mid-week cup competitions and run a Cricket Week in July when we host local teams.

Our expanding rounders group - the only one in central Bedfordshire - with 25 members, train weekly and play matches against other teams in the county.

Aspirations:

We are a club for everyone. We are committed to growing the game and aspire to provide the best opportunities we can in the best facilities for our local communities to enjoy playing, supporting and watching cricket and rounders.

Following the land purchase and development of our second ground and the success we have had in growing cricket locally, the ECB has ‘deemed (the club) to be of strategic significance to the sport on a national scale’ and is we are now in the process of working with the ECB, Central Bedfordshire Council and Seven Architecture to build a new pavilion and a machinery storage barn/changing facility between the two grounds. We hope to have these developments in place during the next 18 months.

History:

The earliest records of cricket being played in Flitwick date back to 1833. Details of some matches from 1867, 1906 and 1914 can be found on our website. The current club was reformed in 1950, following a twelve season absence due to the Second World War, and has flourished ever since. Every available scorecard with match and individual detail, covering over 5,000 matches from the present day back to the 1950 season can be located within the "matches/results" section of the website, with the ongoing aspiration of locating those scorebooks/matches that remain missing.

2008 saw the 30th anniversary of the acquisition of our fantastic ground, The Vale, following the move from Flitwick Recreation Ground. The field flooded badly each Winter, and the locals told them that cricket would be impossible on the field - with 1,000 in the kitty, the ground would cost 6,000 just to buy and then there was the 100,000 plus needed to develop a cricket ground complete with pavilion. What a debt we owe to the then committee for voting YES to go ahead with the project. What madness it was, but their vision and the hard work of clubmen through the succeeding decades has provided countless hours of joy for cricket lovers.

Since then the club has gone from strength to strength, expanding its senior and junior sections, adding the women & girls section as well as adding a rounders club. In order to facilitate its growth we purchased the adjacent land in 2018 and with grants from Central Beds and the ECB to develop the land, our second ground saw its first action in 2020.  Now we are working with closely with the ECB to develop a truly magnificent community facility which we hope will be ready at the end of 2023/start of 2024.
