About us:

Falkland Cricket Club

We believe sponsorship of our club will deliver value based on a marketing investment for financial return, CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), or for the love of the club.

Whatever your motivation, find out more below. Thank you for visiting our profile.

We have over 400 members, 56 Vice Presidents, 75 adult playing members, 40 family members, 125 junior boys, 90 women and girls, and 30 players with disabilities.  We run 8 weekly men’s teams, 17 junior age groups sides and 4 girl’s teams. This year we will enter a women’s adult team in the Home Counties Women’s League for the first time.

Why Sponsor Us

Audience: Falkland CC boasts a growing membership in excess of 400. Through our in-person marketing footprint we can provide your business with the opportunity to build brand-loyalty within the West Berkshire Area.

Facilities: It is sited on 9.5 acres of woodland, cricket grounds and battlefield site of the 1643 Civil War Battle of Newbury, which is overseen by Historic England.

The Club’s pavilion has the usual player facilities, and a social enterprise pub/bistro, called The Bowlers Arms. The Club had over 16,000 visitors in 2019 ensuring the Club and grounds are sustainable and we expect this to go to 40,000 in 2022 with our new facilities now in place.  We host an annual Fireworks display, in 2019 it had 5000 attendees., which was a record and a major fund-raising event.

In non-covid19 times, the club offers facilities to non-cricket local community groups who use our community room. This supports the cohesion of the Wash Common community and delivers towards West Berkshire Council’s policies for a vibrant rural area.  It is a much-loved resource used by the Parish Church, local schools, music, arts and drama groups, yoga, cycle and motor cycle groups, The Newbury Ukulele Society, voluntary community groups such as The Parkinson Society, The Samaritans, and The Ramblers.  We produced a comprehensive, community led 5-year plan to offer more opportunities to arts, physical activity, and voluntary groups.

Digital: Falkland CC boasts circa 200,000 media impressions annual across our digital channels, providing extensive reach and awareness for any of our partners.

The club has a flexible approach to sponsorship, with perks ranging from but are not limited to:

  • logo & link on social media posts and websites pages

  • tickets to our annual fireworks display.
  • opportunities to advertise at club events, to an audience wider than our existing membership base.
  • captive audience of club members for exclusive business promotions, driving top-line sales

Today

Throughout the club, Falkland CC’s ideals reflect sports core values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship. And recent market research has overwhelmingly shown that the club comes across as being warm and friendly, providing good quality sport for all.

Whilst we are ambitious, we also have a strong family ethos, derived from a commitment to youth sport for all age groups.

All this is underwritten by a diverse sponsor base, at a variety of different levels, which aids the club’s financial stability and adds value to our audience.

Aspirations

With membership and crowd attendances rising, we have ambitious plans to continue to develop the infrastructure at the club. Naturally, we want to support our sponsors and build them in to our club on a strategic level, allowing any partner to benefit from our ever-improving facilities, expanding audience and our community involvement.

History

A staple feature of any self respecting cricket club, and traditionally used to mark the beginning of play, the bell might not draw your attention too much as you pass by it, but perhaps next time you may reflect a little longer on it.

Ron Hastings was a man who truly cared about the club. He would willingly prepare a wicket if needed, or fix the plumbing if such a need arose!

Falkland lifetime member and club veteran, Richard Gray describes Ron in his own words;
“Ron was one of those people who worked painstakingly and diligently behind the scenes to ensure that things went well whilst not being a person who sought praise or reward for his efforts. A special dinner was held at the club to celebrate his 80th birthday and I was privileged to sit at the top table with him.”

When Falkland CC acquired the land that we now know as The Wilson Carlisle ground, Ron wasted no time in getting to work assisting with the maintenance and welfare of its playing surface. This task was something of a pleasure for Ron, not least because he was assisted by his good friend David Lloyd.

When Ron sadly passed away, David chose to commemorate his passing by purchasing The Ron Hastings Bell.
