About us:

About Corley Cricket Club:

Corley CC is on the outskirts of Coventry and has been a large part of the community for over 70 years. Over the past 10 years our club has gone from strength to strength and now has arguably the biggest junior section in Coventry, with 3 Saturday teams and 1 Sunday team.

We believe sponsorship of our club will provide a valuable financial return for businesses due to a large social media presence along with a large membership base.

Whether your motivation is due to the love of the club, promotion of your business, or any other reason, please view our profile below. Thank you for visiting our profile.

Why Sponsor Us:

Audience: Our diverse membership base has an age range from 4 to 80+ year olds meaning various age groups are open to brand exposures at the club. Therefore, we believe this offers opportunities to a wide variety of businesses.

Facilities: The club offers a range of facilities  available for hire. This includes the playing facilities, the pavilion/ bar- suitable for a range of events. We also hire out the facilities for weddings in which we host a marquee for the day.

Digital: Over the last few years our social media profile has grown vastly. We have nearly 2000 followers in total on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. All of our pages are highly active with various sponsor shoutouts, player profiles, team news, junior news and more!

Today:

We currently have 3 Saturday teams playing in the Warwickshire Cricket League, in which  our 1st XI were successful in winning their league in 2021 with the second highest points total in the whole of the Warwickshire league. We also have one side on a Sunday that enters the Arden Sunday Cricket league. This side is more directed towards social cricket with a large focus on junior development which is clearly demonstrated with the captain being only 16 for the 2022 season. We also have a total of 10 junior teams, as well as the successful running of All Stars and Dynamos with over 100 members on its own!

Aspirations:

Going forwards we are aiming to continue to grow as a club, as we have over the last 10 years. In 2022 we are aiming to introduce a girls cricket team for the first time, as well as continuing to improve our facilities and develop our coaches to provide the best possible environment. We have produced a list of developments in which we are aiming to achieve:

1- improve our scoreboard facilities to an electronic scoreboard

2- build a storage facility to hold the kit required for our increasing number of members

3- improve our netting facilities for our members

History:

Formed in 1946, Corley CC has been a large part of the community for 75 years. At the time, Corley built a wooden hut to use as a clubhouse and the playing of cricket began. Some years down the line, members worked together to build the new clubhouse which is still standing today and looking better than ever. For many years Corley CC was an adults only cricket club, however from the 1990’s began to add in a few junior teams. In the early 2000’s was where the club progression took off and developed at a rate of knots. This started with the 1st XI beginning their progression through the leagues from Division 6 to Division 2, with the first of these promotions coming in 2001. In 2005, the club installed two artificial cricket netting lanes for members to use and began to expand our junior cricket as well as senior. This included the stock at the bar changing to mirror a more family orientated place.

In 2008 we were successful in applying for a Sport England grant which included a refurbishment of the patio, gents toilets and cricket netting lanes. This was momentous for the club in terms of membership numbers due to the fantastic new facilities we had secured. This along with our focus on being a family club, allowed us to be a more welcoming club and appeal to a wider range of members. Our membership numbers have continued to climb from this point onwards.

In 2009, a group of the adult playing members began to volunteer their time to coach and run junior sides. This has continued each year, and we currently have a minimum of 10 children per age group plus over 100 4-11 year olds in All Stars and Dynamos. As a voluntary club we are ever thankful to our members for this!

In 2010, we managed to secure new sightscreens and covers which were required in order for us to play at the level our 1st team are at currently. These covers and sightscreens have been looked after well and are still in use, however are started to show signs of wear.

In 2013, Corley CC was the host of a game against the ‘Lashings XI’. This is a team of ex- international cricketers who took on our first team in a fantastic day with a marquee for hospitality and lots going on. This saw the like of Wazim Jaffer playing at our club!

2013 also saw the start of us beginning to coach children at 4 years old via a programme called Little Batters. This included 45 mins of fun based games for children that taught things like fine motor skills. The ECB later produced a programme called All Stars which is to target this audience and we are now getting nearly 100 All Stars per year!

Since this, our club has begun to receieve some recognition for its work and we were awarded both a national and local award! In 2012 we won ‘NatWest Biggest Little Cricket Club’ in which we had Michael Vaughan visit for a day. Furthermore, in 2016 we won Coventry and Warwickshire Sports Award Community Award.

Continuing with our progress, we have now seen multiple juniors selected to represent Warwickshire (a record of 4 this year). Our first team have also won their league in 2021, and our membership numbers have grown substantially. We have also opened our doors to the public through the platform of Corley Pavilion. This has allowed us to increase the footprint at the club and allows the public to enjoy access to our cafe 'The Food Corner', as well as the Pavilion being hired for a variety of different parties and events.
