About us:

Whiteley Warriors Basketball Club

Hello and welcome to the official SNAP Sponsorship profile of Whiteley Warriors Basketball Club.

We're delighted to announce that we’ve now partnered with SNAP Sponsorship and we’re looking for sponsors who are excited about affiliating themselves with an extremely successful and ambitious Hampshire basketball club.

We strive to craft a partnership with our sponsors that meets their specific objectives, whether that be community gifting, social responsibility (CSR), direct sales or brand building.

We’ll work with you to develop a partnership which meets both your objectives and adds value to our members — supporting our club’s ongoing work in the community to remove barriers and make sport enjoyable, accessible and sustainable for all.

Whatever your motivation, find out more below. Thank you for visiting our profile.

Why Sponsor Us?

We’re growing rapidly and are already a huge part of our community

Whiteley Warriors Basketball Club was only formed in 2020 and already we’re turning people away as we’re full. There’s a huge demand for basketball in our local community and players and their families and supporters are committed and passionate about we do.

Basketball provides an alternative sport for people looking to increase their fitness and boost positive wellbeing. There are no other basketball clubs in our area so if you’re looking to get involved with something a little different, we’re the club for you!

Whiteley Warriors Basketball Club has an array of sponsorship opportunities which can be tailored to meet your objectives. Through sponsorship, our club will promote your company in a wide variety of ways enriching the profile of your business in our community.

Participation in team sports improves self-esteem, mental discipline and social skills

At Whiteley Warriors Basketball Club we make training and development fun and encourage people to support each other and we celebrate individual achievements and success as a club.

Although exercise and sport in general can have incredible effects on people’s mental health and wellbeing, research has shown that there are more impactful mental health benefits of team sports.

With an increased number of youngsters turning to the digital world and obesity at an all-time high, there’s an outcry for regular exercise more than ever. Just 75 minutes of exercise a week can help avoid chronic diseases like arthritis, heart disease and diabetes.

In addition to wellbeing and the physical benefits of team sports, there are also valuable life skills and lessons young people can learn including manners, respect and boundaries on and off the court; practising persistence, meeting new friends and boosting confidence.

We’d love for you to get involved and see the positive impact basketball can have on the young and old alike!

Help to remove economic barriers making sport affordable and sustainable for all participants

We have an ambition to help the local community in deprived areas to start basketball clubs, thereby removing economic barriers to sport whilst at the same time, increasing the size of our regional league.

Sponsorship of a grassroots sport delivers a much higher return on investment than traditional advertising. This is because sponsorship allows your business to become directly involved in activities that are highly valued by local consumers.

Consumers are known to form strong positive associations with sponsors who support the development of grassroots sport and contribute to the local community. With eight out of ten consumers preferring to believe in what a company does rather than what it says, it’s easy to see why many businesses are choosing to sponsor clubs like ours as a way of maximising their marketing return.

By directly supporting us, you’re helping to remove economic barriers — making sport affordable and sustainable for all.

The Club Today

We’re a newly formed but already extremely successful basketball club which was formed in 2020 when I couldn’t find anywhere local for my son to play. A year on, we have over 200 players across our senior, youth and minis team; we’ve grown exponentially and already, we're having to turn people away as we’re full to capacity.

Last season, our men’s first team won the Solent Area Basketball Association Senior Div. 2 West league and came runners up in the East and West Playoffs and we now have a second men’s Vets team for the more mature player!

We also have a women's team of ex-national league players who are currently a ‘just for fun and fitness team’, but which we are developing for the local league next year.

We’re proud to say that for the first time in over 10 years, we now boast a local league for juniors put together by myself and other members of the SABA committee. This is a huge accomplishment and a great advantage for the local area.

As well as our two senior men’s teams and our senior ladies’ team, we have our ‘Little Warriors’ which includes U8s and competing teams in the U10s, U12s, U14s and U16 age categories. We also have an U18s adult development team and developing groups of U12s, U14s and U16s.

All of our players are fairly new to basketball but we’re lucky to have outstanding coaches who came out of the woodwork and gravitated towards us; some of whom have just represented GB in the Maxi Basketball FIMBA European Championships in Malaga and are now working towards the world cup in Argentina next year.

We currently have a membership of around 500 members and this continues to increase weekly. Approximately 120 people will attend on game days and more on days where all seven of the teams meet, plus their families and supporters.

Our home is Meadowside Leisure Centre, Whiteley but we also play at Brookfield school and Deer Park Secondary School. All of these venues have function rooms where we'd be happy to host a sponsored event if requested.

We’re looking to raise sponsorship for:

  • The U10 and U8 player kit
  • Coach, referee and other official courses, to increase our coaching staff to allow for more teams
  • A trip to Spain next year to compete
  • Our own mini bus for national league games next year
  • Developing a local outside court and bringing it back to life as a place just for ballers
  • Raising awareness for the game, both indoor and outdoor
  • Helping the local community in deprived areas to start clubs so we have a better league next  year.

Basketball is the second most popular sport for U18s in the UK, but one of the last to receive funding and thus the sport has been limited to mostly only being played at home on hoops in driveways. Court hire is expensive, and without clubs like us, community basketball doesn't happen.

We’re passionate about what we do; we’re proud of what we’ve achieved and how important basketball has now become to our local area. We have big ambitions to grow the league and make basketball affordable and accessible to all.

Aspirations

With membership rising, we have ambitious plans to continue to develop our club and the basketball league. Naturally, we want to support our sponsors and build them in to our club on a strategic level — allowing all of our partners to benefit from our ever-improving facilities, an expanding audience and our community involvement.
